A listing, verification badge, featured position or approval status does not amount to a guarantee of quality, legality, availability, suitability or commercial performance.

04

Eligibility and lawful use

Users may access public information for lawful personal, community or commercial discovery purposes.

A person creating or managing a protected account must:

  • Have legal capacity to use the account and accept these terms.
  • Be authorised to act for the concerned business or organisation.
  • Provide accurate and current identity, contact and business information.
  • Use the platform only for lawful activities.
  • Comply with licences, registrations, permits and other requirements applicable to the business.

Minors should use the platform under the supervision of a parent or lawful guardian and must not create administrator or business-partner accounts without proper authorisation.

05

  • Avoid sharing administrator credentials with unauthorised persons.
  • Use a current email address and phone number.
  • Notify the platform promptly when access should be withdrawn.

Listing information must:

Products and services

The listing manager is responsible for ensuring that product names, descriptions, prices, offer prices, units, service details and availability statuses are current and not deceptive.

07

Accuracy, verification and updates

Local Guide may review listing information, request supporting details, correct obvious formatting problems and approve, reject or deactivate a listing.

Verification may indicate that certain information or business control was checked through the available administrative process. It does not guarantee:

  • Continuous availability of products.
  • Accuracy of every price or offer.
  • Quality or suitability of a service.
  • Regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Behaviour of the business or its staff.
  • Completion of a transaction.

Businesses should update changing information promptly. Users should confirm important details directly before travelling, ordering, booking or paying.

09

Prohibited content and conduct

Users and account holders must not:

  • Submit false, fraudulent or impersonating business information.

  • Offer prohibited, unlawful or unauthorised goods or services.
Local Guide may immediately restrict content or access where there is a credible security, fraud, impersonation, public-safety or legal concern.
10

Transactions with listed businesses

Unless expressly stated otherwise, enquiries, bookings, orders, purchases, payments, refunds, warranties, transport arrangements and service delivery occur directly between the user and the listed business.

Users should independently verify:

  • The identity and location of the business.
  • Product availability and specifications.
  • Current price, tax, delivery or other charges.
  • Refund, cancellation and warranty terms.
  • Professional qualifications or licences where relevant.
  • Safety, suitability and lawful use of a product or service.

Local Guide is not responsible for collecting or returning money paid directly to a listed business unless the platform expressly introduces and controls a payment service under separate terms.

Nothing in these terms removes consumer or other statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

11

Maps, WhatsApp and external services

The platform may provide links to Google Maps, WhatsApp, telephone services, social sharing tools, business websites and other third-party services.

Those services operate independently and may apply their own terms, privacy notices, pricing, availability and technical rules. Local Guide does not control their operation or continued availability.

Users should take reasonable care before communicating, sharing information or making payments through an external service.

12

Intellectual property and content licence

Local Guide’s original design, branding, software, database structure, written material and platform presentation remain protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

Business partners retain ownership of content they lawfully own. By submitting content for a listing, the submitter grants Local Guide a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, resize, reproduce, display, distribute and technically adapt that content for:

  • Operating the business profile.
  • Displaying search results and category pages.
  • Promoting the listing within Local Guide.
  • Creating thumbnails and optimised image formats.
  • Backing up and protecting platform data.

This licence continues while the content is used for an active or administratively retained listing and ends after deletion from active systems, subject to reasonable backup, legal and security retention.

Users may not reproduce, republish, sell or commercially exploit substantial portions of the platform without written permission or a lawful basis.

13

Corrections, reports and complaints

A user, business owner or rights holder may report inaccurate information, impersonation, unauthorised images, intellectual-property concerns or prohibited content.

A report should provide:

  • The business or page concerned.
  • A clear description of the issue.
  • Relevant supporting information.
  • Contact details for follow-up.
  • Confirmation of the reporter’s authority where ownership or representation is claimed.

Local Guide may request additional verification before changing ownership, contact details or disputed content.

14

Rejection, restriction and suspension

Local Guide may reject, limit, edit, deactivate, suspend or remove content or account access when reasonably necessary to:

  • Enforce these terms.
  • Correct misleading or unsafe information.
  • Investigate impersonation or fraud.
  • Protect users, businesses or the platform.
  • Respond to a valid legal request.
  • Address prolonged inactivity or outdated information.
  • Prevent technical or security harm.

Where reasonably appropriate, the affected account holder may be given an opportunity to correct information or explain the issue. Immediate action may be taken in urgent security, fraud, legal or safety situations.

15

Website availability and changes

Local Guide may modify, improve, replace, limit or discontinue platform features, categories, listing fields, account tools or technical services.

Continuous, uninterrupted or error-free availability is not guaranteed. Temporary interruption may occur because of maintenance, hosting issues, security work, internet failure, third-party services or circumstances outside reasonable control.

Reasonable efforts may be made to restore important services and protect stored information, but users should maintain their own copies of important business content.

16

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided for local-business discovery and information purposes. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Local Guide does not guarantee that:

  • Every listing is complete or continuously current.
  • A product is in stock when a user visits.
  • A displayed price or offer remains available.
  • A business will answer a call or message.
  • Directions or coordinates are free from error.
  • A listed business will meet a user’s expectations.

To the extent permitted by law, Local Guide will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising solely from reliance on outdated listing information, a third-party service or a transaction conducted directly with a listed business.

This section does not exclude or limit liability where exclusion is prohibited by applicable law, including liability arising from fraud, deliberate misconduct or other non-excludable obligations.

17

Responsibility for submitted content

A person who submits content is responsible for losses, complaints or claims resulting from their unlawful, fraudulent or unauthorised submission.

Where permitted by law, a business partner may be required to assist Local Guide in responding to a claim arising from:

  • False authority to manage a listing.
  • Infringing photographs or branding.
  • Misleading product, service or offer information.
  • Unlawful advertising or prohibited goods.
  • Improper disclosure of personal information.
18

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when platform features, business practices, security requirements or applicable law change.

The revised terms will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Material changes may also be communicated through a website notice, account message or another appropriate method.

Continued use after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, except where separate express consent is required by law.

19

Applicable law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by applicable laws of India.

Users and business partners are encouraged to first contact Local Guide and provide a reasonable opportunity to review and resolve a platform-related complaint.

Subject to mandatory consumer-protection, statutory and jurisdiction rules, disputes connected with the platform may be submitted to courts having lawful jurisdiction in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka.

Nothing in these terms prevents a person from approaching a competent consumer authority, court, regulator or other lawful grievance mechanism where legally available.

20

General provisions

  • If one provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent legally possible.
  • Failure to immediately enforce a provision does not permanently waive the right to enforce it.
  • Headings are included for convenience and do not limit the meaning of a section.
  • These terms, together with incorporated policies, form the general agreement for use of the platform.
  • Additional written terms may apply to paid advertising, premium listings, payments or future specialised services.
21

Contact and grievances

Contact the Local Guide administrator to report inaccurate business information, account misuse, impersonation, prohibited content, intellectual-property concerns or another issue relating to these terms.
